Almost any modern bathroom can be equipped with bidet functions in a fairly technically simple and relatively inexpensive way: for this, designers have come up with a special bidet attachment for the toilet or, as it is often called in professional circles, a nozzle. To install it, you do not need any free space in the bathroom or special plumbing skills. This device has a fairly simple design and fully performs all the functions required of a bidet.
Toilet nozzle design
The bidet attachment for the toilet, the photo of which is posted below, is not at all an analogue of a hygienic shower: despite the completely identical purpose of these devices, they differ both in design and in the basic principle of operation. In fact, such an attachment, which gives the toilet additional functions of a bidet, is a strip with special mounting holes that coincide with those located on the lid of the device and allow you to fix the nozzle directly on it.
Usually, pipes and hoses for supplying water from hot and cold water supply are also placed on it. To carry out the necessary procedures, there is a nozzle that extends under the pressure of water, and before it is supplied, it is hidden to protect it from contamination. In addition to this nozzle, the nozzle is also equipped with an electronic (or mechanical) panel, with which you can change the angle of the nozzle, as well as control its movement, water pressure and heating temperature.

Features of choosing plumbing equipment
When purchasing various attachments and bidet covers, in addition to functionality, special attention should be paid to the dimensions of the device. It is necessary to know exactly the distance between fasteners.
Some models from well-known manufacturers provide adjustment of the mounting holes within 0.8-1 cm. But most devices do not have this function. In addition, the nozzle must match the internal length of the toilet bowl.
When choosing a bidet attachment or lid, it is advisable to give preference to models with a retractable nozzle. This option is the most convenient because it does not complicate using the toilet.
For bidet lids, the distance from the cistern to the edge of the toilet matters. If it is smaller than the size of the cover control unit, it will not be possible to install it.
When choosing a bidet attachment, you should take into account not only its overall dimensions, but also the shape of the flush cistern installed on the toilet. If it does not match the configuration of the set-top box, it will be impossible to install it correctly.
And one more important point. When purchasing equipment, you should pay special attention to its quality. A large number of counterfeits of well-known brands have appeared on the market, so all accompanying documentation must be carefully studied.
The device must be accompanied by certificates of conformity and quality, and documents for warranty service. The latter must be filled out by the seller.
Types of toilet nozzles
Several years ago, such attachments could only be installed next to the toilet, but nowadays many designs have already been developed for the most compact placement of such devices, for example:
- Ÿattachments built into sanitary ware;
- Showers placed on a special hose, similar to a regular shower;
- Ÿbidet covers.
Each of these designs has both advantages and disadvantages, and in order to understand how to choose a bidet that is most suitable for certain rooms, you should consider their characteristics in detail.

Panasonic electronic bidet lid
“Out of competition” I would like to say a few words about a fundamentally new version of a product intended for personal hygiene - this is a bidet lid.
Electronic bidet cover “Panasonic ME-45”.
The electronic bidet cover, developed by a Japanese company, is a product that combines two functions - it is a comfortable toilet seat, as well as a device for taking hygienic water procedures. Such models appeared in Russia recently and have not yet gained popularity, mainly due to the high price, which fluctuates around 30,000 rubles. But there is no doubt that over time the cost of such devices will decrease, especially when several large companies producing plumbing accessories begin producing such products.
Today, two models from this and Panasonic EE-30 are supplied to the Russian market. They can be installed on any toilet, since it is only a base for their fastening and a bowl for draining water.
In fact, the lid performs the functions of a full-fledged bidet, but does not take up extra space in the room. The device is multifunctional, since in addition to a hygienic shower, it provides a heated seat (three modes), a hair dryer (five modes), adjustment of water temperature and pressure power, as well as changing the direction of the water jet.
All of the above options are controlled via the remote control. The seat is equipped with an antibacterial coating. The seamless water supply nozzle is made of stainless steel with self-cleaning function.
After each water procedure, the toilet bowl is automatically deodorized.
The device is economical in energy consumption during the daytime, and at night it also automatically switches to an energy-saving operating mode. The electronic device is protected from leaks by special sensors.
Let's hope that such miracles of plumbing will also soon become publicly available.

Now, having figured out what types of hygienic showers can be found in plumbing stores, as well as having become acquainted with their features and a brief rating of models based on user reviews, it will be much easier to make the right choice of this device for your own needs.
Additional information on this issue can be gleaned from the following video:
Models of nozzles built into the toilet
Such attachments consist of a shower head, a mixer, a durable metal strip and additional connecting hoses. The design provides the ability to carry out personal hygiene procedures at the highest level. For the production of such structures, only special ones are used, processed according to approved sanitary and hygienic quality standards approved by the relevant authorities.
In such designs, durable metal strips are used as the main fastening elements, attached to standard holes on the toilet lid with special screws. The protruding surface of the strip is used to attach the mixer and a hygienic shower specially designed for it. After this, using flexible and convenient hoses, water pipes are connected, through which both hot and cold water will be supplied.
Such designs of modern hygiene devices are quite affordable, easy to install even without certain skills, and very comfortable to use.
Innovative designs of nozzles for plumbing fixtures have special nozzles that are inserted into the sides of the plumbing fixture and pulled out at the right time, and they are equipped not only with adjustment of the angle of direction of the water, but also with other functions that significantly increase the degree of comfort of use.
Bidet attachment for toilet
Water supply to the toilet bowl for a bidet fountain
The first and most difficult question was how to supply water to the toilet bowl. I didn’t want to attach the tube with the fitting to the toilet lid, since the lid has to be removed periodically for cleaning. Drilling a hole in the earthenware of a toilet is not an easy task, and the toilet may crack. Another visual inspection of the toilet to find a way to lay the water pipe for the bidet suggested a simple solution.
The toilet cistern is mounted on its platform using two bolts through a rubber gasket 18 mm thick in the shape of a ring.
When draining from the cistern, water flows through this ring and then flows through the water pipe at the base of the toilet into the bowl. And since you don’t need a lot of water for a bidet fountain, the idea arose to drill a hole in this rubber ring and pass a tube through it and then lead it through the toilet water pipe into its bowl. For experiments, I bought such a gasket in a store and began to think about how to drill a hole with smooth walls in it.
How to drill a hole in thick rubber
If you drill rubber with a universal drill, you will get a hole of unpredictable diameter with torn walls. Usually in rubber up to 7 mm thick, holes are cut out using perforations. The ring was 10 mm thick, and it was not possible to cut out a hole with a notch. I had to invent and make a special drill.
I made a drill from the elbow of a broken telescopic antenna from a radio receiver. Typically, sections of a telescopic antenna are made of thin-walled brass tubes of different diameters, inserted one into the other.
In order for the tube to turn into a drill, it needed to be slightly modified; to reduce lateral friction on the rubber when drilling, flare the end and cut teeth on it with a needle file.
In order for the bidet tube with an outer diameter of 7 mm to be tightly pressed against the walls of the rubber gasket of the toilet, the drill was made from the elbow of a telescopic antenna with an outer diameter of 6 mm.
Next, markings are made and the circumference of the future hole is drawn with a marker. In order not to accidentally damage the opposite side of the rubber ring, it is advisable to insert a narrow strip of any material inside it.
To drill a hole, the rubber gasket must be clamped in a vice with such force that it is compressed by 1 mm. To compress the rubber ring evenly, it is necessary to place two flat plates between it and the jaws of the vice. Compression is necessary to simulate the compression of a rubber gasket when installed in a toilet. There it will also be deformed under the pressure of the drain tank and the force of the two bolts.
You need to carefully clamp the tubular drill in the drill chuck with little force, since the thin-walled tube can easily become deformed. Next, the drill-tube is installed on the intended circle, the drill is turned on at low speeds, slightly pressing in the vertical direction, and a hole is drilled.
The drilled hole in the rubber gasket had smooth walls, and the bidet tube fit into this hole with tension. Therefore, no additional sealing will be required in the future.
Inserting an additional valve into the water supply network
Since the issue of installing a bidet tube in the toilet bowl has been worked out, it is time to make a connection to the water supply network to supply water to the bidet. The insertion method for connecting a bidet is no different from the insertion for connecting a washing machine or any other equipment that requires a connection to the water supply network to operate.
Typically, in modern toilets, water is supplied to the flush tank using a flexible hose connected to a tee embedded in the water supply network.
This tee is the easiest to connect to. It is enough to unscrew the flexible toilet hose and install another additional tee in its place. As a result, there will already be two outlets for water in the water supply. The previously removed flexible hose is connected to one of them, and the second will serve to connect a homemade bidet.
A ball valve is also installed in the tee, with which you can regulate the amount of water supplied to the bidet fountain.
Thus, to insert an outlet into the water supply network for connecting a bidet or any other device, you will need to additionally purchase a valve and tee with internal or external thread, depending on the specific connection conditions. You may also need a nipple, this is a short piece of pipe with threads at the ends.
Installing the water supply solenoid valve
Every time you use a bidet, opening the tap and adjusting the water supply is extremely inconvenient, so to eliminate this inconvenience, an electromagnetic valve was installed after the valve. Such valves are installed in all automatic washing machines to control the flow of water into the tank.
The solenoid valve has a simple design; a spring-loaded rubber valve is installed in a plastic case, which, pressed by the water pressure in the water supply, reliably shuts off the water. There is also an electromagnet installed on the body. When supply voltage is applied to the electromagnet winding, the rod is drawn into the electromagnet coil and the valve is pulled back, opening the path for water. As soon as the voltage is removed, the valve returns to its original place and the water is shut off again.
The solenoid valve from the washing machine is designed to operate at a supply voltage of 220 V 50 Hz and consumes a power of 8 W, withstands pressure up to 10 atm, and costs less than $10. Just what you need to automate the water supply in your bidet.
The solenoid valve is connected to the water supply using a pipe with a ¾" external thread and cannot be screwed directly into the faucet with a ½" thread. An additional adapter is needed that has a ½" external thread on one side and an internal ¾" thread on the other.
The tightness of the connection between the solenoid valve and the adapter is ensured using a rubber gasket, and the threaded connection of the adapter with the water tap must be sealed, for example, using flax and Unipak paste.
A thin layer of Unipak paste is applied to the thread, then a small strand of flax is wound along the thread and the flax is again covered with paste on top. All you have to do is screw the adapter into the tap, and screw the solenoid valve into it.
A thick-walled plastic water supply tube in the bidet is attached to the outlet fitting with a diameter of 12 mm, and at this point the work of connecting the bidet to the water supply network can be considered complete. In the photo, the tube is temporarily attached to the solenoid valve fitting for further experiments. Subsequently, you will need to put it completely on the fitting and clamp it with a clamp.
Since a tube with an internal diameter of 9 mm is connected to the solenoid valve fitting, and the internal diameter of the bidet inlet tube is only 4.5 mm, an adapter is required to connect these tubes.
In the case of controlling the valve, connecting its winding directly to the household electrical network with a switch, the adapter must be metal. To protect against electric shock to a person when using a bidet, it is imperative to connect the yellow-green wire of the electrical wiring, if it has one, or grounding. You can do without grounding by powering the solenoid valve through an isolation transformer.
Installing a nozzle for a fountain
Finally, the work came to the most important stage, developing the design and determining the method of attaching the nozzle for the bidet fountain in the toilet bowl.
Even before inserting the branch into the water supply network and installing the solenoid valve, I checked the possibility of laying the bidet tube through the toilet water pipe, and thought over a method for attaching the nozzle. Therefore, all that remained was to implement the idea.
First you need to remove the lid from the flush tank, then remove the bulb valve so that you can thread the bidet tube into the toilet bowl into the drain hole through the toilet water pipe. The structure of the cistern and its disassembly is described in detail in the article “Eliminating water leaks in the cistern.”
Since the tube is flexible, having passed through the winding water pipe of the toilet, it was oriented with its end at random when entering its bowl. To give the desired direction and the possibility of fixing the tube, as well as to be able to fix the nozzle on it, one of the brass elbows of the above-mentioned telescopic antenna with a diameter of 4 mm and a length of 150 mm was inserted into the tube after threading, from the side of the toilet bowl. With an internal diameter of the bidet tube of 4.5 mm, the elbow was easily inserted, but it could only be removed with considerable force.
Next, the bidet tube with the antenna elbow inserted was pushed back into the toilet water pipe. Since the water conduit is not rectilinear, but the tube is straight, it, resting against the walls of the water conduit, was quite firmly fixed in it, even slightly bent. This was a pleasant surprise; the issue of attaching the bidet tube was resolved by itself.
Previously, in the immediate vicinity of the end, a rectangular hole was made in the brass tube on the side surface for the passage of water into the nozzle.
In the photo you can see how the tube for the bidet fountain was installed in the toilet bowl. It turned out much better than I expected. All that remains is to come up with and make a nozzle.
One of the main requirements for water supply materials for a bidet is corrosion resistance, so plastic and brass were used. Additional requirements apply to the nozzle for the fountain; the material must be antibacterial. One of the available materials that meets all these requirements is fluoroplastic, also called Teflon. Fluoroplastic is resistant to environmental influences and does not dissolve even in aqua regia. Nothing sticks to it, not even bacteria and fungi. It has a snow-white color and is easy to process. Ideal material for making bidet nozzles.
In the center of a rectangular piece of fluoroplastic measuring 10x10x30 mm, a hole with a diameter of 4 mm is drilled lengthwise to a depth of 25 mm. To determine the angle at which it will be necessary to drill holes for the fountain, I placed the future nozzle on the installed brass tube in the toilet, attached a ruler to the workpiece so that its edge passed through the center of the toilet bowl and drew a line on the workpiece. If the workpiece holds weakly on the brass tube, then the end of the brass tube needs to be slightly flared.
First, one hole with a diameter of 1 mm for the fountain is drilled in the workpiece, then after testing, if the stream hits where intended, this hole is drilled out to 2 mm (determined experimentally). To check the correct angle of drilling holes, the workpiece is put on a brass tube, voltage is applied to the solenoid valve, and the valve sets the desired pressure of the fountain.
After giving the nozzle the desired shape using an emery column, you can begin installing the bidet system in the toilet.
The removable design of the nozzle allows you to select the optimal angle and number of holes in it during operation. At the same time, thanks to the rectangular hole in the brass tube, you can drill holes in the nozzle on four sides and, by turning it 90°, select the washing mode you like.
Lids
Attachments to plumbing fixtures, made in the form of electronically controlled toilet lids, are now the most popular among other types of hygienic devices. Such covers are attached to toilets based on their designs and sizes, and have the following functions:
- Ÿdryer using warm air;
- Ÿwater heating control;
- Ÿself-cleaning nozzles;
- Ÿslowly lowering lid.
In the most modern models of such nozzles, microcomputers are increasingly found, with the help of which you can adjust any settings of the device to make hygiene procedures even more comfortable. The lever, which extends with one press of the regulator on the control panel, can operate in the following modes:
- hygienic washing;
- Ÿliquid soap supply:
- Ÿpulsating water massage;
- Ÿpendulum movement of water supplied by the nozzle;
- Ÿdryer;
- Ÿheating system;
- hair dryer;
- Ÿ freshener;
- Ÿantibacterial protection.
Features of the bidet cover and its step-by-step installation
Using the bidet lid, it is not only possible to wash delicate areas in different modes (for example, in children's mode or using a pulsating jet), but also a number of other functions are available:
- hydromassage;
- drying;
- seat heating;
- “anti-clap” - for smooth closing of the lid;
- self-cleaning;
- the ability to install nozzles in a way that is convenient for the user, etc.
SensPa electronic bidet lid
The presence/absence of certain options depends on the lid model and the control method, which can be:
- mechanical - usually work on the principle of a mixer, requiring manual adjustment;
- electronic - means turning on and adjusting using a remote control or built-in panel.
Installation of the cover consists of the following steps:
- After turning off the water, disconnect the hose.
- Install the lid on the toilet, having previously unscrewed the necessary nuts on the seat.
- Attach the supply hose to the tank, as well as to the T-valve. Add a filter to the latter.
- Connect the cover and hose filter with a special plastic nut.
- Plug the power cord into the outlet and turn on the water supply.
Watering can with hygienic shower
The bidet watering can, designed similarly to a conventional hygienic shower, can have either an external or built-in location. Typically, such a bidet is equipped with a movable hose that ends with a shower head and is fixed to the wall. If necessary, bring it to the right place, press a special button and turn on the water. Often a thermostat is installed in the mixer to maintain the water supply at the desired temperature.
When choosing the most suitable plumbing attachments intended for hygiene procedures, it is important to pay attention to the compatibility of the attachments with certain toilet designs. Also check what efforts are required to install them yourself and their common disadvantages. For example, many people complain that when using a shower head, leaks often occur at the places where it is attached, and many find this design inconvenient, since the water head must be held by hand all the time.
Popular manufacturers of quality toilets with bidette
Among manufacturers of hanging devices, the best is the Swiss company Geberit. Toilets with Geberit bidet function are complemented by reliable installations.
The hanging model from Geberit - AquaClean 8000 Plus, which belongs to the elite class products, deserves attention. The dimensions of the product are 38x58x51 cm, the height of the bowl is 41 cm. This toilet bowl is made of porcelain. The model is equipped with an anti-splash system, a micro-lift for the lid, has automatic control and a return drain. The cost of a toilet with a Geberit bidet function is 32 thousand rubles.
High-quality multifunctional hybrid plumbing models are offered by the German brand Grohe. The devices are characterized by the presence of different operating modes for hygiene procedures, based on the gender differences of users. You can set the appropriate settings, and the toilet will remember them. Many models are equipped with night lighting, a surface ionization system, and special cartridges for odor absorption. The nozzles are distinguished by their ability to perform spot washing and hydromassage.
Progressive products in the Geberit line are equipped with water heating functions with the ability to individually adjust the temperature
A good model is the wall-hung German toilet with bidet Grohe Sensia Arena, made of porcelain. The product is available in an oval design. It has a horizontal outlet, a circular flush, a lid with an automatic microlift and a pair of shower sleeves, one of which is for women. The kit includes a instantaneous water heater, a hair dryer and a carbon filter. The operation of the toilet with a bidet is controlled automatically. The main disadvantage is the high price of a shower toilet, which starts at 80 thousand rubles.
Smart toilet with bidet function from a Japanese manufacturer
The Japanese company Toto was recognized as the best brand for the production of smart toilets. It offers “smart” devices with unique advanced functionality, which are in great demand, judging by the reviews. Toilets with a bidet function are equipped with the option of automatically lifting the lid when a person enters the bathroom. After he has left the room, the lid is lowered.
The funnel-shaped flush, carried out in three directions, promotes effective cleaning of the device. This uses a minimal amount of water. Smart Japanese Toto toilets with a bidet function can operate in different washing modes, which are selected separately for women, men and children. At the same time, the pipe slowly moves back and forth, effectively cleaning the contaminated area.
Toilets with a bidet function are equipped with the option of automatically lifting the lid when a person enters the bathroom
All toilet models are made of porcelain with an additional special coating that helps repel dirt, which is confirmed by reviews. Toilets with a bidet function are equipped with deodorizing systems and built-in hoods, which eliminates the stagnation of unpleasant odors in the room. Thanks to the unique self-cleaning function of the surface, some device models are washed with ionized liquid, after which the ultraviolet ray emitter turns on.
The main disadvantage of smart toilets from the Japanese brand is their high cost, which reaches 100-200 thousand rubles.
Toilets with bidets are very popular due to the convenience and efficiency of hygiene procedures after visiting the toilet. The devices are presented in a wide variety of types. You can choose the best wall-hung toilet or floor-standing model based on personal preferences and requirements.
Installing a bidet attachment on the toilet
Bidet attachments are considered the easiest to install among existing devices for arranging bidet functions. To install such a nozzle, you need:
- Ÿremove the seat from the toilet;
- Ÿplace the nozzle on its rim according to the attached instructions;
- Ÿplace the cover on top of the console and additionally secure it with bolts;
- In order for the attachment to fulfill its purpose, it must be “embedded” into the water supply system, that is, connected to the water. To do this, connect the hoses coming from its mixer with tees to pipes for cold and hot water. It should be remembered that some attachments can only be connected to cold water supply;
- When connecting the nozzle to the hoses, the easiest way is to do this strictly according to the instructions.
Which manufacturers can you trust?
Czech, Italian, Polish and German sanitary ware is considered the highest quality and most durable. If, when choosing, you focus on leading manufacturers, then the following have proven themselves well in the plumbing equipment market:
- Turkish brand Vitra;
- Belgian brand Ideal Standart;
- products of the German corporation Duravit;
- equipment from the Swiss company Geberit.
The group of good quality sanitary ware also includes products from the following brands: Ravak, Jika, Cersanit, RAK CERAMICS. The price level for products from these manufacturers is approximately the same. Among the products of domestic manufacturers, it is worth highlighting Santeri.
Plumbing equipment from a domestic manufacturer is adapted to our water supply system, which is why it is famous for its long service life
When choosing plumbing equipment, you should not save money. Experts do not recommend purchasing products from unknown Asian brands.
Consumer reviews show that the sanitaryware from such manufacturers is of poor quality: it is less resistant to mechanical damage, strongly absorbs unpleasant odors and quickly loses its presentable appearance.
How to choose the right bidet attachments
The ratio of not too high a price and fairly good quality of these plumbing products is of the same importance as when choosing any of the other models. Often, too cheap designs turn out to be short-lived and unreliable. In high-quality models, the bar is additionally reinforced with stainless steel plates, while too expensive models often have an overly complex design and, as a result, cannot be attached to a typical toilet model.
Distance between bidet and toilet
To use the set-top box comfortably, it is recommended to choose models with the ability to use hot water. Sometimes using cold water for hygiene procedures, even for a short time, can damage the health of women and children. Advertising often mentions that cold washing is useful for treating hemorrhoids, but, for example, treating cystitis with cold water will only become more complicated.
Using modern attachments, you can easily turn an ordinary toilet in a typical tiny bathroom into a plumbing device that combines two of the most necessary functions, with the help of which people can easily solve their delicate problems.
Why is it necessary to use a bidet?
It must be admitted that for our compatriots the bidet is often not perceived as a basic necessity. It is generally accepted that after visiting the toilet it is enough to use toilet paper, no matter whether dry or wet.
In fact, this is not enough at all. Doctors have conducted studies confirming that it is impossible to remove all contaminants in this way.
In a humid and warm environment, they will become an excellent nutritional basis for the development of a large number of microorganisms. Which, at best, will lead to the appearance of an extremely unpleasant odor, and at worst, to the development of inflammatory processes.
Therefore, in many countries around the world, washing intimate areas after visiting the toilet is an absolute norm. A bidet helps to perform this procedure with the greatest comfort.
The traditional version of a bidet in the form of a free-standing plumbing fixture cannot be placed in all bathrooms, since its installation requires a lot of space
There are many varieties of popular plumbing fixtures. The first models, which appeared in the 17th century, were simple baths of water. Modern devices are supplied with cold/hot water, as well as sewer pipes to drain used liquid.
All this requires a fairly large amount of free space. For small bathrooms, bidet attachments, which have appeared relatively recently, are ideal.
How to install a bidet correctly
In modern apartments there are often quite spacious bathrooms in which it is easy to place both a toilet and a bidet at the same time. As a rule, a regular floor bidet is a very simple device attached to the floor and connected to the central sewer system. It is very important to maintain the correct distance between the toilet and the bidet: experts consider a distance of 30-45 cm to be optimal for this.
Distance between toilet and bidet
Step-by-step installation of a bidet:
- ŸYou should start by installing the mixer, and then attach a sufficiently flexible hose to it. After this, the mixer is connected to the device using studs, the placement of its center is adjusted, where the drain for the bidet will be located, and then the fasteners are tightened with a wrench, not forgetting to place rubber gaskets under the nuts;
- Ÿthe drain funnel is fixed in the desired hole, and then the drain hose is attached to the lower part of the structure, where the siphon for the bidet is located;
- Ÿthe floor is marked for installing fasteners and holes of a suitable diameter are made at the marking site;
- Ÿbefore inserting dowels into the holes, the floor surface must be thoroughly cleaned, and then, once again checking that the required distance from the toilet to the bidet is maintained, place the product on the floor and securely fasten it with bolts;
- The siphon corrugation should be securely secured near the drain pipe;
- The final stage of the process consists of reliable sealing of the connections and additional processing of them with mounting tape.
Options for plumbing fixtures
Depending on the type of design and installation method, manufacturers distinguish three types of shower toilets.
Floor products
Toilets with a floor-mounted bidet function are a classic version of plumbing fixtures, which are most often chosen when arranging spacious bathrooms.
Traditional shower toilets are installed directly on the floor, fixing the structure with fasteners
The range of floor-standing toilets with a bidet function is the widest. There are mechanical, semi-automatic and automatic models on sale, the design of which includes a control unit.
Drain tanks for floor structures can have different configurations. This makes it easier to choose a model that will fit perfectly into the design of the toilet room.
Wall models
A wall-hung toilet is a miracle of technology that can not only increase comfort, but also give a modern design to the toilet room.
A special feature of suspended structures is that they are installed in the area of the sewer connection directly on the wall of the room
Installing a suspended structure is somewhat more complicated and involves installing an installation system. When installing such models, the drain tank is hidden in the wall. The problem of rigidity of fastening of suspension devices is solved by constructing a frame with a load-bearing capacity of at least 400 kg.
Corner designs
Corner models are chosen in cases where it is necessary to place the structure in the corner sector of the bathroom. With these models you can create a modern, exclusive restroom design.
Corner toilets with a bidet function are good because they allow you to use centimeters of bathroom space as economically as possible.
On sale there are both floor-mounted and wall-hung versions of corner toilets that perform the function of a bidet.
Basic mechanisms of suspended models
A modern wall-mounted bidet is usually constructed of separate parts: an installation mounted into the wall of the bathroom and a bowl connected to it with pins. The installation for a bidet is a simple structure that has several functions: it serves as a supporting structure for the bowl and at the same time serves as a supporting frame for placing all other necessary devices. A special feature of the installation designs is the ability to adjust the height of the device above the floor level, which helps adapt it to human height. Typically, height adjustment occurs in steps at intervals of 10 cm.
Wall-hung bidet and toilet
Modern engineers have developed several types of designs for the bowl: sometimes a separate mixer is installed in them, which makes them look like a hygienic shower, and some models are designed to use electronic elements. Usually, instead of a faucet, a small retractable fountain or a hose with a watering can is installed in more often than not, which reduces the functionality of the product, but allows you to use water more freely. Electronic bidets are much more functional and allow you to build a hairdryer into the device, install a special container for heating water on the installation, etc.
Hanging electronic models are sold already with installation, and ordinary bidets with mixers can rarely be found on sale as a set: all their parts have to be purchased separately.

Types and characteristics
Shower toilets come in many different varieties. First of all, they are divided into two groups:
- mechanical;
- electronic.
Mechanical
The capabilities of such a device are minimal, and all control is carried out manually by the user. But mechanical shower toilets also have advantages:
- very low cost;
- For operation, only pressure in the water supply is required.
Mechanical bidet
Electronic
Devices of this type:
- are more expensive than mechanical ones;
- in the event of a power failure, they often cannot work at all, since even the valves in the mixer in many models are opened by an electric drive.
But the presence of electronics turns the shower toilet into an ultra-modern device with a very solid set of additional functions. Here's what such plumbing equipment can be equipped with:
- Water heating: the presence of a water heater eliminates the need to lay a hot water supply pipe to the toilet. In some models it is flow-through and therefore relatively powerful (about 1 kW). In others, the water heating system is implemented in the form of a tiny boiler, which allows the power of the heating element to be significantly reduced. Of course, electric heating is not mandatory for all shower toilets. Those who would not like to heat water with electricity due to the high cost of the latter can easily find a model with a mixer.
- Warm air drying. A very convenient option, thanks to which the user does not have to bother with a towel.
- Automatic control of various parameters.
Electronic shower toilet
The electronic shower toilet can do the following:
- Independently maintain the water temperature at a user-specified level, regardless of the water heating method (mixer/water heater).
- Adjust the pressure according to the settings.
- Rinse the bidette before and after the ablution procedure.
- Automatically turn off the bidet mode as soon as the user gets up (if there is a weight sensor).
The electronics can turn on the heated seat and lift the lid when the user visits the bathroom (if there is an infrared sensor).
Various water supply modes
A whole range of options is available to the user:
- "Children". In this mode, the water is supplied softer than usual.
- "Hydromassage". The nozzle makes a swinging motion, while water is supplied with variable pressure and at different temperatures. It is possible to mix air into the water jet.
- "Turbopressure". Increased water supply, providing an enema effect. An effective solution to the problem of constipation.
- "Sitz bath" A treatment regimen activated for a particular disease. For example, contrast baths are used for hemorrhoids.
The “Hydromassage” mode and subsequent ones contribute to a significant improvement in the functioning of the pelvic organs and act as a prophylactic agent to prevent many diseases.
Disinfection
Different models solve this problem in different ways. Some have an ultraviolet lamp, others wash the bowl and nozzles with a disinfectant solution stored in a separate container.
Air treatment
Most models have an air deodorizing function. Direct removal of unpleasant odors is also used. There are two ways:
- pumping out contaminated air with a built-in fan into the ventilation system;
- pumping it through a carbon filter.

Owners of the most expensive models can even surf the Internet using a small display while using the toilet.
type of instalation
Based on the type of installation, shower toilets are divided into two types.
Floor-standing
This is a classic option: the toilet is placed on the floor and screwed to it with dowels or special fasteners. Everyone knows the disadvantages of this solution:
- all communications are located in plain sight;
- It is difficult to clean the areas around the toilet and behind it;
- The murmur of water when filling the tank can be heard quite clearly.
Floor-mounted bidet toilet
However, there is also a “plus”: if a leak appears in pipelines located in plain sight, it will be immediately detected.
Hanging
A fundamentally new way of installing plumbing, which consists of the following:
- a special frame is placed near the wall (called an “installation”) and screwed to it;
- a tank is installed in the frame, after which all communications are connected to it;
- then a partition is installed from floor to ceiling, so that the frame is hidden behind it;
- The toilet is hung on studs screwed into the frame, connecting it to the water supply (for the bidet) and sewage system led through the partition.
As a result, the toilet room looks very neat and practically empty. There is a toilet hanging on the wall, next to it there is a flush button.
Suspended structure
The design is completely safe, as it is designed for a load of up to 400 kg. The benefits of such a solution are obvious:
- the room looks perfect and very modern, there is nothing superfluous in it;
- there is nothing on the floor at all, so cleaning is carried out efficiently and without difficulty;
- The noise produced by the flow of water is almost inaudible thanks to the partition.
Only now, in the event of a leak, the water will have time to cause a lot of trouble before the accident is detected.
Recognizing this, manufacturers of suspended plumbing pay a lot of attention to the reliability of all sealed connections. So, if you choose a shower toilet from a company with a decent reputation, the likelihood of an accident will be almost zero.
Bowl configuration
Toilet bowls also differ in bowl configuration. There are two types:
- The drain hole is located in front , and the bowl looks like a slide leading to it. This option is considered classic.
- The drain hole is located in the center , while the bowl has the shape of a cone. This configuration appeared relatively recently. Its advantage is that the waste immediately falls into the water and the bowl, unlike the first option, does not get dirty. But another problem arises: when falling, they make a splash, showering the user with dirty splashes. To prevent this effect, several improvements were applied, which collectively became known as the “Anti-Splash” system. It is advisable for the user to know what they are, since the fashionable word “Anti-splash” is now attributed by unscrupulous sellers to almost any toilet.
So, the correct toilet with “anti-splash”:
- Is taller. What needs to be compared is not the height of the bowls as a whole, but rather the vertical distance between the expected level of the water surface in the siphon (corresponding to the level of the lower edge of the outlet pipe) and the rim. The logic is clear: the higher the user is above the water, the less likely it is that splashes will reach him.
- Has a narrower drain hole.
- Made with a special rim around the drain hole.

Toilets are also divided according to the type of flush. There are three types of button:
- normal (the entire water supply is drained);
- dicotyledon: when you press one half, the entire supply of water is drained, and the second - only half;
- “start-stop”: when pressed, the water is drained, when pressed again, the flushing stops.
The last two types allow you to save water.
