For more than 20 years, we have been building drainage and cesspool sewer pits from concrete rings in private houses and dachas in New Moscow and the Moscow region.

Cesspools and drainage pits are much cheaper than a septic tank and work well at low groundwater levels. Suitable for summer cottages with seasonal stays and private houses with permanent residence of a small number of people.

When the groundwater level is high, cesspools made of concrete rings are provided with a bottom and sealed.

We also sell concrete rings of our own production for arranging cesspools or drainage pits “with our own hands.”

We invite you to order us to install a sewer pit on your property!

What is the service?

Residents of country houses in many situations do not have the opportunity to connect to a centralized city sewerage system. They have to set up their own local facility, with purification, disinfection and wastewater disposal.

To lay pipes, it is often necessary to dig a large hole. This is almost always done with a shovel, manually, without the use of special equipment. This is the so-called earthwork, which has its own difficulties if you try to do it yourself.

Chemicals for septic tanks and pits

For drainage pits, there is a huge selection of various bioactivator products on sale.
They are produced in the form of solutions, powders, tablets, etc. These drugs contain strains of microorganisms that can process human waste very quickly. Bacteria feed on organic substances and consume oxygen, which is dissolved in wastewater. As a result, microorganisms quickly rid the surrounding area around the pit of stench and decompose sewage into individual components.

What determines the cost of digging a hole?

Excavation work has quite a lot of nuances that can seriously raise the price tag. In order not to go broke at this stage, it is worth familiarizing yourself with them at least in general terms:

  1. Soil type - if there is dense clay underneath your site, this will most likely increase the cost of the work. And if there are some rocks there, it will not just increase, but significantly.
  2. The need for special equipment - if the soil is particularly hard, or the site is located at some unusual angle, then you have to bring in special equipment, the rental of which costs a lot.
  3. Work time - since we are talking about country houses, if the issue cannot be resolved in a day, then something will have to be done about the workers’ accommodation. If there is space in the house, then good, but if not, the workers will bring a change house, the rent of which will be paid by the customer.
  4. The size and depth of the hole - the cost of the excavation work itself is calculated in cubic meters of excavated soil. The more it is, the correspondingly more expensive.
  5. Removal of soil - sometimes it may be that in the near future there is no need to bury the hole back, then you need to remove excess soil, and this is an additional cost.

In fact, it may happen that the company names one price tag, but the team of craftsmen on site is completely different, several times larger. You need to be mentally prepared for this.

Price of a cesspool for a summer residence

The cost of a cesspool toilet in a country house depends on:

  • the range of location of a summer cottage or private plot;
  • difficulty of access to the work site;
  • number of reinforced concrete rings used;
  • soil type of the summer cottage;
  • cost of specialist work;
  • the need to use special equipment (crane, manipulator).

We provide our clients with flexible terms of cooperation, allowing them to order cesspool digging services at the best price.

You can call a specialist to inspect the site, find out the cost of sewerage in a private house, order digging a cesspool or buy a septic tank by leaving a request on the website. Our specialist will call you back, help you determine the characteristics of the cesspool toilet and calculate the exact price.

Types of sewer pits

A regular pit for pipes is the most economical option for excavation work. The sewerage system itself may be more expensive, but digging will cost little, unless the water purification system is located in a neighboring yard. Digging a cesspool requires additional effort and expense.

The cesspool must be dug according to special standards - no more than 20 meters from the water source and exactly three meters from the residential building itself. The excavation is fixed, almost always 4 meters deep, but you need to lay a reinforced concrete structure at the bottom and cover the walls with concrete rings. The process is much more labor-intensive and expensive, but it is essentially a full-fledged analogue of sewerage.

The most popular drainage pits

The most widespread are two types of cesspools:

Pit made of concrete rings

  • from concrete rings - installation is quite simple, the cost is extremely affordable, and the labor intensity of the work is low;
  • from plastic containers - the cost is slightly higher, but there is perfect tightness. This method is considered the most environmentally friendly. In addition, there is no need for a cesspool cover, because the container is equipped with a hatch.

Plastic septic tank with hatch

Even if over time you no longer need the drainage pit and need to mothball it, in the latter case the work will be simpler.

You will need to clean the container from wastewater with a sewage disposal machine, first adding biological preparations to the pit, and then simply close the hatch.

Preservation of a cesspool made of concrete rings will be somewhat more difficult.

Preserved cesspool

Examples of the cost of digging a hole for sewerage

In general, examples of any other excavation work will be suitable, because the principle in them is approximately the same. To dig a hole 2 meters deep, 4 meters wide and a meter long in 2 days with ordinary soil will cost at least 18,000 rubles in St. Petersburg, Moscow and their regions. In the north of the country, this cost increases significantly due to freezing of the ground.

To dig the same thing in Yakutia with the removal of soil will cost 30,000 rubles . And you need to clearly understand that we are talking only about earthworks. In addition to them, you will also need to pay for building materials, laying pipes, purchasing and installing septic tanks, and so on.

Installation stages

Installation diagram of a two-chamber septic tank
Stages of construction of a drainage pit made of concrete or reinforced concrete rings:

  1. Calculate the volume based on the number of residents - on average, 1 person consumes 150 liters of water, add to this the consumption from the washing machine.
  2. Carry out markings on the site, taking into account SNiP standards and the convenience of laying sewer pipes.
  3. Dig a hole of the required diameter with a margin of about 30 cm on the sides to make a hydraulic lock from clay.
  4. Fill the bottom with concrete using reinforced mesh. If the septic tank has an open bottom, add a layer of gravel about 50 cm. When the concrete has hardened, you can continue working.
  5. Using a crane, place the concrete rings on top of each other. You can build formwork and pour cement mortar - this will give the structure integrity and there will be no problems with sealing. The joints between the rings are covered with a water-repellent solution. Wet clay is applied to the outside, which will protect the soil from toxic runoff.
  6. Cut a hole for the incoming pipe and seal the joints.
  7. The pipes are laid and connected to the internal sewerage system.
  8. They check the system and fill the line with sand and soil.

At bends, if there are any, it is necessary to make inspection manholes for sewer maintenance.

Advantages and disadvantages

There are several positive and negative aspects to the construction of trenches during sewer installation.

AdvantagesFlaws
Compared to the trenchless installation method, this method is cheaperIt is impossible to carry out work without opening the soil: you will have to remove fertile soil and uproot vegetation on the site
The sewerage system will be covered with a layer of soil and will not be damaged.Material and time costs for digging a trench increase
Self-executionWork cannot be performed in the winter season

If you choose how best to lay a sewer system, then laying it underground provides more opportunities than the above-ground option. It is in this way that you can correctly organize the slope and comply with all the norms and requirements.

What pipes are used?

To lay a sewer system on a site, pipes made of different materials are used.

Pipe typeFeatures of use
Cast ironStrong and durable pipes, affordable and easy to install. Difficulties may arise when connecting joints. Cast iron corrodes over time and is heavy. The inner surface of cast iron will not be smooth, which will make it difficult to transport waste to the drainage pit
Asbestos-cementThey have a smooth surface, so blockages do not form. They are easily mounted using couplings, have less weight, but are fragile and can break during transportation
PolymerThey have high strength and low weight. Laying such sewer pipes can be done by one person. Easy to connect and seals well. Available in PVC, HDPE and polypropylene
CorrugatedThey withstand dynamic loads well and are resistant to freezing, but can become deformed at too low temperatures.

Experts recommend using plastic pipes for laying sewers. In this case, the diameter of their cross-section is selected based on the number of bathrooms in the house. For 2 toilets a pipe with a diameter of 110 mm is suitable; for 3 or more bathrooms you need to install a pipe with a diameter of 160 mm.

Problems and errors

There are several mistakes during construction that can lead to negative consequences during the operation of the sewer system:

  1. No soil compaction . If this is not done, then in the future there may be erosion by groundwater, as well as a violation of the integrity of communications due to heavy rainfall.

  2. No slope. If the slope has not been completed, then wastewater will not flow into the septic tank. The slope should be 1-2 cm per meter of pipeline. If there is no slope, sewage will quickly clog the system.
  3. Lack of a well . It is definitely recommended to install an inspection well for cleaning and repairing the system.

Another mistake occurs when laying wastewater and water pipes in the same trench. Here it is important to follow the technology and rules - make the distance between the pipes 150 cm.

Digging a mine for a septic tank in Moscow

The next step is the actual process of digging a hole to size. First, a circle is dug along its entire length, one and a half to two spade bayonets deep. After this, the central part of the pit is leveled. This entire process is repeated to a depth approximately equal to the height of the two rings. Then you can proceed in two ways. If the rings are not chipped or damaged, then you can safely dig a hole to the required depth. After this, roll up and lower the rings if the total depth is no more than 4 rings. It is worth paying attention to the fact that when deepening one and a half meters or more, it is almost impossible to dig with a shovel with a standard handle. The cutting will have to be shortened by half. The earth, accordingly, is obtained in buckets that are firmly attached to a rope.

We deliver rings without cracks or chips, but if you already have your own rings...

If the rings have defects or cracks, then it is better to first install two rings, and only then go deeper, installing 1 ring at a time. Upon completion of the main work, drainage will need to be done. To do this, it is necessary to drill or dig 3-4 small holes at the bottom of the septic tank to a depth of 60-80 cm. These cavities are filled with sand and compacted. The bottom of the well under the septic tank is also covered with sand (the compacted layer should be from 5 to 10 cm high).
